Service to Country
Lynn enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966 and was commissioned an officer in 1967. As a first lieutenant in Vietnam, he participated in 26 combat operations from 1968 to 1969, receiving decorations including the Navy Commendation Medal. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1995 as a Lt. Colonel after 29 years of service. Lynn’s leadership in the Marine Corps served our country well, just as his leadership continues to serve our community in the State legislature.
Commitment to Community
Lynn has shown his commitment to our community by dedicating the majority of his life to educating the kids of I.S.D. 196. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, he went on to earn his M.S. in Mathematics from Minnesota State University at Mankato. He taught mathematics for 31 years in Rosemount, Apple Valley, and Eagan. He has also been Eagan’s head wrestling coach and has served as an assistant football coach. Sheryl, a Lakeville elementary school teacher, shares Lynn’s commitment to our community’s children.
Commitment to Family
Lynn is first and foremost a dedicated father and husband. Lynn and his wife of 40 years, Sheryl, take pride and joy in their family life. Together they have raised two children in Eagan, where they have resided for 36 years. Jason, a former Captain in the Marine Corps and a Cobra helicopter pilot, returned from serving our country in Iraq for the second time in 2004. He now resides with his wife, Jamie, and Lynn and Sheryl's grandchildren, Matthew and Katie, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jason is currently studying chemical engineering at the University of North Carolina. Doug, a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in May of 2004. After law school, he clerked for Minnesota Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson. Doug is also Rep. Wardlow's campaign manager. He currently practices commercial litigation at Parker Rosen in Minneapolis.
